The most interesting lighting for outdoor photography is usually the hour before and after, both sunrise and sunset. There is a softer character to the light, and softer shadows, if shadows exist at all.

This image is in that hour before sunrise. It is the northern end of the Las Vegas strip, from above Boulder Highway. Using a telephoto lens brings Mt. Charleston, and the light snow that was visible on this April morning, up to the edge of the Stratosphere Tower and high-rise hotels. There is a mixture of morning glow, and the glow of the electric lights along the 'street that never sleeps'.
